To register, please complete all the necessary forms with appropriate data, documents and registration fee and return them to the school office for processing. Additional information regarding registration and admission can be found on our website at www.stemcanada.ca. Each parent of a registered child will receive a copy of the Parent Handbook.

Once all documentation has been received into the school office it will be processed. The Director of Education or Head of Administration will contact you regarding the status of your application.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

1. By paying for and submitting the COMMITMENT FEE you acknowledge that this becomes a binding commitment for fees to be paid each month, on time and IN FULL for the duration of the school year. This fee is non-refundable. $50 of my commitment fees paid will be deducted each month from my tuition payment.

2. By applying to SMAC, you agree to pay the following fees upon acceptance: First Month’s Tuition, Last Month’s Tuition, the Commitment Fee, and the Application Fee (upon application). There are no exceptions to this policy.

3. Commitment fees CANNOT be used towards tuition payments as a shortfall top-up in any given month.

4. All fees paid are NON-REFUNDABLE under any circumstances. This policy includes payments toward books and Supplies issued by SMAC, uniforms, meals, activities, tuition, and commitment fees.

5. Uniform payments towards uniform pieces that are not delivered due to backorder or discontinued may be used towards other substitute uniform pieces only.

6. If students are away due to family travel, illness, or another purpose, tuition payments CANNOT be missed, nor deferred. Tuition MUST be paid each month as a commitment to your child’s registration spot. No exceptions to this policy will be granted.

7. In the event a student is subject to involuntary or voluntary withdrawal, is suspended, expelled, or otherwise required to leave SMAC for any reason, all fees paid to the school are strictly non-refundable.

8. Application fees are non-refundable under any circumstance, including if your child is denied entrance or acceptance to any program.

9. Any tuition scholarships, or sibling discounts cannot be combined with any other discounted offers.

10. An NSF fee of $50 will be applied to all cheques processed with insufficient funds. This NSF MUST be paid within 5 business days of the NSF notice. SMAC reserves the right to suspend attendance to students with delinquent accounts that exceed thirty (30) days, in which the last month’s tuition deposit will be applied.

11. Late payments of monthly tuition will be subject to a $50 late fee per student for each week the tuition payment is late.

12. SMAC will refund 100% of the tuition fees paid in the event that the school is not able to offer an advertised class from the beginning of its commencement. Refunds will NOT be granted if SMAC begins the program and the registrant chooses to withdraw for any reason.

13. In the event that a student is ineligible for admission prior to the course start date, all fees paid will be refunded, less the application fee.

14. Items not included in tuition fees: textbooks, e-books, school supplies, field trips, meal plans, activity fees, special events, food days, before and after-school care, and uniforms.

15. Tuition will not be prorated during short academic months due to: September commencement, December Break, March Break, nor the end of the school year in June. All tuition payments must be paid in full each month.

16. In the event in-person classes need to move online for any reason including closure due to public health mandates, the ongoing pandemic or mandated closure of our facilities, tuition fees will be mandatory to continue for o nline learning purposes. This is NOT an optional requirement. A flat rate of 50% of the posted annual rate of $9,500 for full-time students and $5,400 for part-time students per child per month will be required to cover insurance costs and online teacher facilitation costs. There are no exceptions to this policy. Failure to pay tuition will result in withdrawal from the program.

FORM 2 – CONSENT TO DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

I consent to have STEM Montessori Academy of Canada /STEM International Academy of Canada (SMAC/SIAC) collect personal information that may include the following: student identification information, birth certificate, legal guardianship, court orders if applicable, parents’ work numbers and e-mail address, behavioural, academic and health information, most recent report card, emergency contact names and numbers, doctor’s name and number, health insurance number and any similar information needed for registration.

I further consent to the use and disclosure of information contained in this form and otherwise collected by or on behalf of SMAC for the purpose of establishing, maintaining, and ending the student’s or parent’s relationship with SMAC, for additional purposes identified when or before personal information is collected, and as otherwise provided in SMAC’s Personal Information Privacy Policy. I also consent to the collection, use and disclosure of such personal information by and to agents, contractors and service providers of SMAC.

This information is required in order to register your child in the STEM National Leadership Program and assist the school authority (SMAC) in making an informed decision as to your child’s suitability and appropriate placement in the school. It will also allow the school to respond immediately to an emergency. A NON REFUNDABLE deposit equal to the first and last month’s tuition payments, in addition to the $500 commitment fee will be charged to all students enrolling at SMAC. The commitment fee is $500 for ALL full time students and $500 for ALL part-time students. Commitment fees and deposit payments are mandatory to secure acceptance of scholarship offers.

FORM 7 – REST AND NAP TIME REQUIREMENTS

(a) Each child as part of a toddler or preschool group who receives child care for six hours or more in a day has a rest period not exceeding two hours in length;
(b) A child being in a toddler, preschool or kindergarten group is permitted to sleep, rest or engage in quiet activities based on the child’s needs as we acknowledge that while not all children need a mid-day nap, young children benefit from periods of quiet relaxation to balance their active play. Some children who are tired may take a relatively long time to relax and sleep, while others only require a short rest period. Children’s needs may also change from day to day or week to week.
The need for rest and sleep varies greatly at different ages, and even among children of the same age; however, rest is an important part of the day for all children. This provision allows for a period during which quiet activities are encouraged. Rest time at the child care centre should be of such duration that normal sleep patterns at home are not disrupted. At SMAC, nap time if required, is accommodated.

FORM 9 – DECLARATION

PANDEMIC CLOSURES:
In the event of program closures due to a pandemic or natural disaster, our programs will move to online programming. In such instance, tuition rates will be discounted to 50% of the annual posted rate of $9,500 per student. Parents are still expected to pay tuition to cover costs of teachers associated with online teaching, marking, and lesson planning while partaking in studies online. This is a commitment of enrollment and is not optional.
