STEM Montessori Academy of Canada (SMAC) believes that children deserve every opportunity for success. SMAC will open its doors in seven cities across Canada beginning January, 2020, including Brampton. The SMAC Brampton location offers full-time day school for students from Pre-K to Grade 12, as well as many other program offerings. The STEM-school offers a provincially approved curriculum, enhanced with enriched STEM-Immersion learning. The STEM Montessori Academy of Canada is a federally registered, not-for-profit group of private schools operating across the country. SMAC is among the very first set of schools in Canada
offering a STEM-Immersion, enriched curriculum for students. SMAC’s location in the city is the historic Central Public School in the heart of Brampton.

Why STEM? Adequate access to affordable education in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (known as STEM) is a stepping stone in the advancement of successful students both locally and internationally. The SMAC STEM program was created in response to the growing importance of scientific and technological literacy among students to best prepare them for post-secondary education and for the jobs of tomorrow domestically and across the globe.

The mission of SMAC is to provide high-quality STEM-focused education in a manner that is affordable to all students to foster innovation, critical thinking, with math and science literacy to yield globally competitive results. The SMAC program breaks down barriers of under-representation in STEM-related careers and post-secondary studies. “The STEM Montessori Academy of Canada is committed to participating in the development of educational opportunities for Brampton’s youth and the wider community by introducing a STEM Immersion program as a solution for the lack of STEM-based educational options currently offered in our community,” says Robinson, the Academy’s Director.

Enrollment at SMAC is open and available on an ongoing basis across five program offerings. The Brampton location offers a full-time day school for students from Pre-K to Grade 12. For students not enrolled full-time,
there is access to a national STEM Leadership program for children ages 10-18, advanced STEM-based
after-school programs, weekend STEM school, a home school supplement program, and STEM-based camps to accommodate PD day’s, March break and summer sessions.

SMAC is the first full-time STEM Immersion and regional STEM program in the city that has been made accessible to all families. The schools offer a wide variety of scholarships in order to be a truly inclusive organization that caters to all income ranges, nationalities, and educational abilities. All are encouraged to apply.

SMAC will be offering ten (10) full scholarships for January 2020 enrollment. SMAC is currently accepting applications for all programs. Applications are available at www.stemcanada.ca. Individuals or businesses wanting to sponsor a scholarship to support the SMAC EDUCATION DRIVE may contact SMAC directly.
